The Director of eCommerce Platform is responsible for the overall eCommerce platform is well positioned to enable the growth of our Direct & B2B businesses, and supports our website positioning. This includes the development of a top-notch central and scalable eCommerce platform as well as our Customer Engagement Platform. This addresses ~50 consumer facing websites. The Director of eCom Platform is responsible to make sure the platform delivers an excellent user experience – with a data-driven and premium brand approach. ​

The role is actively managing the eCommerce Platform team to build an effective way of working, centred around delivering value to our business and customers in an efficient manner. This includes the definition of a platform strategy that is well connected to the IT & Data strategies, and is positioned to support the Direct & B2B growth strategies. 

Your day-to-day job

Key responsibilities
 

  • Accountable for the definition of a strategy & visionary and innovative platform roadmap, incorporating technical foundation initiatives goals as well as marketing & campaign initiatives, with the proper monitoring and tracking. 
  • Accountable for the execution of the eCom platform roadmap and delivery of an eCom platform that brings innovative business concepts to life and enables the Direct & B2B businesses to realise their strategies.
  • Enable value realisation via the eCom platform (Own Webshop, website, CRM, etc.) by discovering, defining & delivering functionalities that address business concepts & needs.
  • Deliver a top-notch customer experience across the eCom platform through a deep understanding of our customers’ pain points in a fact-based manner. 
  • Monitor eCommerce trends & innovation and experiment concepts and solutions that disrupt the standards.
  • Ensure an effective way of working in the cross-functional teams (Scrum Teams).
  • Support marketing strategies with the right platform set-up & tooling.
  • Act as an advocate for the user, to ensure that the product design strategy is aligned to user needs, expectations and experience. Making sure the eCom experience adheres to brand guidelines & is designed to drive sales.
  • Lead a team of Product Managers, Experience Designers, Scrum Master / Agile Coach, Data Analysts & CRM experts that deliver continuous data driven improvements of websites in cross-functional agile teams.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders from different disciplines, businesses, central functions and the markets to ensure buy-in and alignment on the global platform strategy and plans.

  • Fully implement an Agile framework that drives an effective value creation within the eCommerce Platform
  • Scrum Teams deliver upon their quarterly commitments at +90-95% predictability
  • The eCom Platform is future-proof, innovative and addresses key customer problems and enables revenue generation as well as brand inspiration
  • A highly performant platform development team with clear growth paths

Competencies/Skills for position

  • University degree in business studies with a major in marketing / digital brand management or other relevant fields with 10+ years experience in eCommerce for multinational websites delivering physical goods to consumers. An entrepreneurial mindset working towards maximize business value with a hands-on attitude is an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and data-driven decision making.
  • Experienced leader in managing a team of specialists where you lead by example and build a strong collaborative team culture focused on making impact.
  • At least 10 years of Product Management & UX experience.
  • Acknowledged communicator at all levels with experience in managing international, cross-functional team and agile ways of working. Fluent business English, additional languages are an advantage.
  • Data driven mindset: Ability to draw conclusions based on analytic reports and KPIs with a general knowledge of online optimization and analysis tools (testing, surveys, analytics). 
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C markets is highly desirable.
