Miele X is growing fast and because of that we are looking for a Global Head of Media! As a new member, you are going to be part of the global media team. This is a new, senior role with the central Miele team. We are looking for a candidate who is as passionate about media and the growth it can deliver for a premium, aspirational brand as they are about delivering operational excellence for media within the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing an efficient and effective model for media at Miele that gets the best from our agency partners, helps our markets improve and increase performance in media, and who ensures media – and the contribution of media – are better understood across the business.

Your day-to-day job

  • Leading and Guiding global markets in premium media best practices. This is not a media activation role; in the vast majority of cases media is planned and bought directly in market. As a premium brand looking for consistency in action and execution, this role has a critical responsibility in levelling-up the media strategy and ambition across all Miele markets.
  • Building a best in class relationship with the media agency partner, ensuring sound strategic guidance is developed, scaled and actioned across the organisation along with any short term tactical guidance.
  • Leveraging and demonstrating the value that media delivers to the business, with a reasoned logic behind the balance of short and long term targets.
  • Ensuring that media investments stay focused and responsible.
  • Guiding on the growth of a small team of highly competent media professionals around themselves, prioritising the basic functions / areas of media that require dedicated support.
  • Ensuring the business adopts a holistic approach to media that combines;
    • Media strategy & planning (inc. comms planning)
    • Brand and performance media (goal, KPI and budget setting)
    • Media reporting and insight
    • Media innovation
    • Media technology


  •  Development and delivery of media / audience segmentation strategy.
  • Set up and delivery of a media planning / budgeting cycle that maps the natural business planning / budgeting cycle and meets myriad needs of direct / distributor lead markets.
  • Provide guidance on media strategy / comms planning approach for multiple LDA and SDA categories.
  • Lead development of strategy for Brand and anniversary campaigns.
  • Ongoing development media ‘blueprint’, prioritising capability development, technology & dashboard integration, media education programme etc.
  • Work with marketing procurement to develop robust and reasoned agency review & satisfaction processes.
  • Work with marketing research / insight to design media research approaches.
  • Build a balanced, functional relationship with direct to customer performance media and eCom leads.

We are looking for

  • Have around 10 years of experience working in media.
  • Preferably a mix of agency, brand and / or publisher side.
  • Experience working with businesses / agencies that are transitioning from one agency /  client to another.
  • Collaborate well with a broad and diverse range of marketeers who represent different local business models and media / marketing needs.
  • Be willing to live and work from Amsterdam (with an appetite to travel, particularly in the first year)
  • Have a broad and up-to-date understanding of modern media and how it impacts a business strategically, commercially and operationally. 
  • Be skilled in managing and motivating senior and junior team members alike.
  • Understand how brand and performance media work together.
  • Be excited to deliver both practical media guidance and thought leadership.
  • Category experience is a nice to have, but not essential.
  • Experience working with both direct and distributor lead businesses / clients.
  • Confident to come into a large organisation and lead the media agenda by example.
